The old inner city suburb of Port Melbourne is the traditional home of working people whose community is bound by ties of class, church, sport and family. Now their beaches are being eyed off by developers, and their streets are choked with cars – no longer the domain of their kids. A Place to Belong deals with the issue of quality of life: the value of living in traditional, but run-down, inner suburbs versus new developments. It shows how the struggle for housing can affect our identities and shape our lives.
